Q: Has anyone else been having problems with tires on their 2006 Mazda 3?
I'm at 30,000 miles and my tires are worn way down. A guy told me to take it to the dealership because apparently this has been a common problem on the 2006 Mazda 3's. Anyone else have this problem?

A: Your expectation for your tires were greater than 30,000 miles. Tires will not live up to expectations when they are not rotated every 5,000 miles, if they have not been checked for proper inflation on a regular basis and if you drive fast into corners. Lastly, the type of road traveled will wear out many a passenger tire. i.e. road construction, pot holes etc. If you can swing it, get a set of Michelin tires. Michelin does not cut corners on it's product no matter the price point. If not Michelin, be sure to get a very good set of tires, certainly better than stock. Any car is only as good as it's tires, and anyone riding with you are only as safe as what the tires are capable of handling short of human error. The best protection from a car accident is avoiding one, your tires are the first line of defense. Cheers.

Q: My 2006 Mazda 3 check engine light is on but not blinking. Is it ok to drive?
My 2006 Mazda 3 check engine light is on, but not blinking. The dealership said that it's not serious if the engine is not blinking and that it is ok to drive. Can anyone else out there confirm this is true? Has anyone else had this problem with a Mazda 3? They say it can be a loose gas cap. And that if i drive for 100 miles it should turn off. Does autozone really give free diagnostics tests? Is there a catch?

A: Play it safe, go to auto zone and have the codes scanned for free. If they say it is an EVAP code then the dealer is right and the lite will go out due to a loose gas cap. The 100 miles is to reset the OBD2 system good luck

Q: Will a 2006 Mazda 3's 16" wheels fit on a 2006 Mazda 6 ?
I have a 2006 Mazda 6i, and I found a set of wheels locally for sale that belonged to a Mazda 3. Right now I have stock wheel covers, these are the stock alloys. Will they fit? I can't pass up 175 bucks for four 5 month old tires and wheels!!!

A: They should fit. All Mazda 6 submodels (Sports, 5-Door, Sports wagon and Mazdaspeed6) come standard with at least 16" wheels. However, just to make sure call Mazda or your nearest Mazda dealer. Q: How can I find the wheel size on my 2006 - Mazda 3? Or can anyone verify this info?
I think I need wheel size (15"x6"), lug size (5x114.3), and offset (45).

A: I looked on Edmund's web site and there are two models of Mazda 3's: Mazda Speed and the straight Mazda 3. For the Mazda 3 sedan there are 5 different models. Below is the standard tire size for all five with web links to the Edmund's sites. I have a madza 3 and it has a few marks on it and was wondering if anyone could tell me where to purchase touch up paint from in western Australia

Q: Is a 2006 Mazda 3 sedan ready for HID head lights???
I have a 2006 Grey Mazda 3 Sport Touring Sedan. Is my car ready for HID head light bulbs, or do I need a conversion kit? I would like to purchase just the bulbs. But if I need a conversion kit, then so be it. Thanks

A: You will need a conversion kit that comes with the ballast and ignitor (some kits have the ignitor built-in with the ballast) to make the HID bulbs work. Your car requires the H7 for the low-beam light conversion if you are going to replace the stock halogen with an aftermarket kit. You should be able to either get the HID system from a local Mazda dealership, or of course, you can get an aftermarket HID kit online -which is higher in performance and will be less expensive, but may or may not be DOT approved. I have one on my car, and I will never go back to the archaic halogen! The best deals that I've seen and purchased from are on eBay, but there are some good deals that can be had directly from a HID online merchant. I've had succes from several. Just make sure you know what you want and order it right to avoid any de- lays or problems with trying to return the kit you've ordered. If you are not comfortable with installing it yourself (it's really not that difficult for most cars), the Mazda dealership might agree to install it for you. If not, then you could have a reputable body shop do it for you. I would stay away from a car installation shop for this type of installation. I've had problems with more than one different car installation franchise in my experience. Look to spend about $75-$150 on the installation -depending upon the labor cost of each shop. Enjoy your new HID lights!

Q: Is a 2006 mazda 3 a good car and is it good on gas?!!?

A: The previous answer is a text book answer, I can only add that the gas miles are between 250-315 miles on a 13 gallon tank of gas. Gas being at $2.81-3.40 a gallon, you would pay $32-43 to fill up. For the record gas mileage is based on how you drive the car and tire pressure, it is often a subjective measure. I can elaborate on your question from an owners point of view. I have an 05 Mazda3 Sp23 and I have found it to be a great car. I don't know what you are looking for in a car, but if reliability is one of them, you can't go wrong. The car is simple, and likewise service repairs. It has been built to be a practical mode of transportation that requires regular oil changes, a change in the fuel filter at 30k miles and new fluids at 90k miles. Besides rotating your tires every 5k miles...that's it. Because of the brand it has "sporting intentions" thus it is not a hot rod, it is a curve hugger. Handling is this car's forte. Mazda has managed an interesting daily driver that is fairly engaging on mundane driving trips. The Bose sound system is no Fosgate with amps, but it is a reasonable compromise for the price point and nothing to be ashamed of. The down side is that the Goodyear RSA tires are notoriously crummy in anything but dry weather. The point chips easy, due to rocks from other vehicles, road noise can be annoying on gradient roads, windows need to be tinted because the air conditioner will wheeze on the hottest of days and make sure you have rear air bags for the back seat. Mazda does not fair well with side quarter crash tests, if you have a baby seat in the back or any loved one with any regularity in that riding position, it would be in your best interest to take this into consideration. If you want to mod the vehicle you will find the fun in a base Mazda is truly understated. A Cold Air Intake, a Catback exhaust, xenon headlights a better horn (Hella), lower the car by 1" and 18" tires with a Mazda bra and red brakes is a absolute joy. It is a looker. So the answer is yes. Mazda3 is a good car, featuring low routine maintenance and since it was introduced in 03 as an 04 model, all the bugs in a newly built car should have run it's course. Insurance is cheap, for the car, I can't speak to our driving record and all else is a matter of taste. After owning my Mazda3 for nearly 3 years, I would buy it again. I hope this helps.
