Q: My girlfriend has a 1993 mazda miata and every 15 minutes it chimes for 5 sets of 5 chimes?
It's kind of annoying and i haven't run the codes yet because she has no cel's (check engine lights). apparently it does this on startup (like its supposed to) and every 15 minutes after that it does it too. Any ideas on what it could be has anyone had the same problem before?
no its not the seatbelt chime she is smart and wears its
anyone else, i know i've gotta look for myself but there has to be somebody that has had this happen yeah i'm looking for the quick fix
A: It's either the seat belt chime or an open door chime. If your seatbelt is on and the doors are properly shut there is a malfunction in their sensors (which would NOT provoke the check engine light to turn on).
Also, in some cars when one leaves the turn signal on it chimes. I doubt this is your problem, however.
Q: how much would insurance be on a 1993 mazda miata mx-5?
i am a 17 year old that has already had one speeding ticket if that helps.....but how much do you think the insurance might cost?
A: It's just a guess, but I'm going to say $1000 every six months.
Any teenage boy is going to have a high rate. The speeding ticket doesn't help, but just the fact that you are 17 and a guy are going to push it up.
Make sure you check Progressive and Geico. (Try going through your local AAA office - they can get you better deals on auto insurance sometimes.)
Q: where in the net can i read a 1993 mazda miata owner's manual? from cover to cover.?
A: Yes, joining a forum will help you with your car. I've learned so much about the cars I've owned through the help of other owners. Someone on there may post a copy for you. If you are interested in buying one, check this out:

Q: i have a mazda miata 1993. It won't pass smog because the RPMs are to high. What could be wrong?
A: I'm not a mechanic, but the two don't necessarily tie together. If you're idling too high, it might mean your fuel/air mix is wrong and the engine is compensating or someone turned it up too high.
The reason you can't pass inspection is because your engine probably isn't running right. There are dozens of possible reasons, unfortunately.
If you don't know a mechanic, take it to a Mazda dealer. They deal with Mazdas all day and aren't much more than your local Joe, plus they have an interest in making you happy. You're likely to come back and buy a new vehicle, which is where the "real money" at the dealership is.
Best bet is to find a reliable mechanic and let them take a look. They can run a diagnostic check on your engine to find out how it's running. It'll cost 50-75 bucks, but lots of garages will write off the cost if you have them do the repairs. At the very least, you'll know the source of the problem.
Q: mazda miata?
How many miles can you expect to get from a 1993 mazda miata before things start needing fixed? I am debating on buying a 93 miata with 190,000 miles, can I expect to have to make a lot of repairs in the near future or should I get a few years out of it with only basic maintence?
any replies will be helpfull
it has the 1.6 L. motor
A: at 5K miles it needed a minor check up what for at 190K
Q: what is better for my mazda miata a turbocharger or a supercharger?
it is a 1993 1.6L engine and i want a lot of power without hurting the engine...what is better, and what other mods could i make that would be really good and mostly cheap
A: The 1.8 is better for putting out power, but the 1.6 can still do the job. You can double the horsepower with an Fyin Miata kit and some dyno hours. A Jackson Racing supercharger is an awesome option that is easy to drive on the street. The little B16 engine can handle a decent amount of boost on stock internals, so if all out power is what you want then build a decent turbo setup, with an intercooler and 3" mandrel bent exhaust. Hope this makes the decision easier and good luck.
Q: Mazda Miata Thermostat?
What is that little wire Above My thermostat on my miata the wire broke off and have no idea what its for my tempature gage still works so cant be that.....1993 miata
A: it should be a sensor that controls the fan but you say your temp gage has not fluxed? that's odd best bet is to buy a book on your car they Can be obtained anywhere and only cost about 20 bucks its cheap for alot of correct knowledge
Q: can i put a supercharger and a turbo on a mazda miata?
it is a 1993 1.6L and can you put both of them on there to help with the low and top end?
A: Not both...choose one or the other.
Q: I need to over-ride the error message on the radio of a 1993 Miata?
I got the car two years ago and had some body work done. They disconnected the radio. I entered what I thought was the security code. It didn't work. The manual says I need to take it to a Mazda dealer to have it reset...is there a code or a reset button..come on. The car is 15 years old. I don't want to pay a dealer to push a button in the back. Happy Trails with the wind in your hair!
A: Read the article in the link.
Q: O2 sensor on a miata?
The O2 sensor wire on my 1993 mazda miata has frayed away ...can i just replace it with any old wire.. now this is not the 6 inch wire on the o2 sensor but rather the one near the firewall is a long wire that comes from the smaller one...I can not simply wrap black tape around the old wire i mean it looks bad...but i hear that putting just any ol wire could throw off the reading .. thanks
A: I would go ahead and replace the piece with similar gauge wire, solder them together. Also on a model that old it may need replacing anyway and probably not too expensive, worth getting a price on one.
Q: Can you help me decide whether I should buy this miata or just sit on my money?
I have $1000 cash and I called someone up on craigslist who was selling a 1993 mazda miata mx-5. But it has collision in the whole rear clip but he has the whole rear clip, so I would have to go to a body shop. The Miata has 112k miles, the AC is cold, good interior, no cracks in the dashboard, good soft-top, and new clutch. Should I buy this miata and spend money on it to get it repaired? Is it worth it?
here are some pictures:

A: Dude,
Do not buy this Miata to drive. This is a parts car. The owner would not be selling it for 1K or less otherwise. My 91 had over 100k on the mileage and I still paid just over 3 K for it. The owner already knows how expensive the repairs are going to be and doesn't think it is worth it. Spend a lil money and get yourself a VIN check done on this car and I bet you find out it glows. Just wait, save your money and another one that requires no work will come along.
Q: My car rattles when I let off the gas, but goes away when I put in the clutch...?
My boyfriend says that it could just be my exhaust shield rattling, but I really want to make sure. It happens evey time I let off the gas. What could the noise be? If it helps my car is a 1993 mazda miata.
A: sounds like the throw out bearing in the clutch.possible heat shield rattle, but not likely.how many miles on the car?ever had the clutch replaced?
Q: Looking for sporty 2 door/seat manual used car - suggestions?
So far I like the Mazda Miata MX5
I also like the Mazda 3rd gen RX7 like the one here:

I know theres a lot more out there that I can consider looking at.
I'm only looking to spend around 10,000 unless I can get some sort of good payment plan.
Please give me some more makes and models that I can look at.
Thanks!!
A: The Mazda RX7 3rd Gen is the best and will probably be one of the few Japanese collector cars. They really handle and the engines can be tuned to close to 500hp. Its a great car to drive.
I noticed you said sporty and everyone has recommended "dorky".
