Q: how much horsepower does a 1989 mazda rx7 have?
i want horsepower of stock and with turbo stock. is it hard to work on a rotary engine can anyone give any good websites for research

A: That first poster is an idiot... :) Stock S5's come 160 n/a and almost 200 turbo'd. They're not hard to work on if you read up on everything and dont rush stuff. I've got an 87 for my first car and I've had the top half of the motor off, front iron off, replaced the fuel pump etc. and I'm young. So if you're just patient you can do about anything. And what the other poster said, once the go they're done. That's wrong. You can rebuild rotaries many more times than a piston driven motor. And since they consist of 3 moving parts, it's much more compact and easier to deal with in my opinion. If you want more information, check out: www.rx7club.com www.naonly.com www.nopistons.com Hope this helps. And good luck if you're getting one.

Q: i have a 1989 mazda rx7 gtu non turbo wich seems to flood at cold start?
the car will start with a weak idle at cold start then die when i try to restart it you can smell gas and the car takes some very prolonged crancking before it will finally start and when it does white smoke and gas fumes can be seen and smelled help anyone have any ideas

A: On a cold start, it should jump to at least 2000rpm, 3000rpm if it's really cold outside (40 degrees farenheit or below). My 1987 non turbo RX7 sometimes stumbles and dies too. When it does that, give it a little gas to bump the tach to 2000 (3000 if it's cold out) and it should cure it. When's the last time you changed your spark plugs and air filter? Flooding means too much gas, or not enough air/spark. If you're not a member of the RX7 club, be sure to sign up at www.rx7club.com and check the FAQs too.

Q: What problems should I look for with a 1989 Mazda RX-7?
The clutch has been changed and it only has 52,000 original miles. I want to be informed of any problems that usually plague a 1989 Mazda-RX7 with a Turbo II engine.

A: The rx7 dosent have pistons it has the rotary engine also known as the wankel. The o-rings and seals always bust and you need to rebuild the engine. Id be careful what i did to it. I had a 1988 and a 1991. Thats the most important but the flip up lights are always a pain in the butt. But look on ebay or any website youll notice ALOT of rx7s say rebuilt engine you gots to change the oil every 2000 2500 miles. I love those cars buy it treat it right and it will be good to you

Q: can i defeat the cat convertor on a 1989 mazda rx7?

A: u should be able to take it off and punch out the "cones" on the inside if thats what u want to do, then put it back on (we used to do that to our cars)..its time consuming tho

Q: i have a 1989 mazda rx7 i ran it out of gas how do i get it to restart again i know theres a process but how?

A: If it just ran out of gas, then fill it back up and go. If it was sitting for a while, you'll probably have to replace gaskets, o-rings, fuel lines, all fluids, all filters, and it will probably have to be tuned. You might need to replace the brakes/brake lines too.

Q: does a 1989 mazda rx7 come with twin turbo?

A: The twin turbo FD series were only sold in North America for the '93 through '95 model years. In Japan they were sold from the '92 model year through to the 2002 model year. Chris...

Q: can i put either of this engines in my 1988 mazda rx7.?
turbo2 rotary out of an 1989 rx7. an lt1 or ls1.and would it be real hard to do and expensive?

A: yeah the turbo 2 would be an easy conversion since im pretty sure the tranny is the same turbo or no turbo. The 350CI chevy engines have been mated to rx-7s for a long time. both FCs and FDs. It is fairly expensive but it is doable and there is a lot of data available on how and where to do it. I personally wouldnt, but thats just because i have a warm spot in my heart for the rotary.

Q: how to fix a blocked cat in my car?
the guy said that in my 1989 Mazda RX7 could have a blocked cat. whats that mean?

A: Catalytic Converter. It's part of your exhaust system that 'cleans' your ehaust gasses for the good of the environment. There is no way of 'fixing' it other than replacing it. When they are blocked, you usually can experiance poor acceleration, check engine light, or worse case, no start. They become blocked typically because there is another problem with your engine, i.e. too rich, coolant in combustion chamber, etc.

Q: which car would suit a p plater??????????????
