Q: Mazda Rx8?????
What are your feelings on a 2005 Mazda Rx8? Are they good vehicles? Have you had any problems with them? Thanks!
A: I own an '05 Grand Sport 6MT RX8 bought new in June/05.
I haven't had a single problem with her. She's only seen the shop for regular scheduled maintenance.
The car is great fun to drive and I'm very happy to have bought her.
YMMV

Im into cars and while watching tokyo drift i caught my eye on Mazda RX8 the girl was drivng and i've wanted it ever since! Problem is, they are a bit pricey. Does anyone know where i can get an affordable one? Used or whatever, it doesn't matter. I live in Philadelphia. Thnkx :D

Q: What price can I get a used mazda rx8 for?
How much do you think is a good price for a used 2004 mazda rx8?
A: Depends on how many miles, equipment, condition and where you live. I think the average is around $10,500.00 to $13,100.00 dollars.
Q: Can anyone tell me about an automatic transmission mazda rx8?
I love the look of sporty cars, but i don't want to drive with a manual tranmission. The mazda rx8 caught my eye and i have seen a few with automatic transmissions. I have heard a lot of things about the rx8 that worry me, like that its high maitenence, it eats up oil and gas quickly and some stuff about the rotary engine that sounds like a pain. I was wondering if these things are true only to the manual, or if they apply to the automatic aswell(or if they are even true at all).
I appreciate any information i can get on the car! thanx
This is also my first car ever, so im looking for something reliable. For the most part ill be driving to school and home and around town, not any long distances. Let me kno if you have any suggestions!
A: Theirs really nothing wrong with the car...rotary engines tend to be high maintenence, but it really only applies to rotary motors that have a lot of miles on them. With a brand new rotary powered car you really shouldnt have any big rotary related issues till you get into the 6 digit mileage, even then you could probably go to 200k on the original motor with no problems since its non turbo. the issues do apply to both manual and auto however. and i agree....if you want a sports car you really should buy a manual; however, the automatic RX-8 does come with paddle shifters on the steering wheel and an almost identical motor so it would still be a blast to drive. The automatic has almost 40hp less however. As for oil and gas, itll eat up gas for sure since it only gets 18 mpg, but it wont eat up oil. people like to say that but i have an 88 RX-7 with 118k miles and it doesnt it up oil at all, people will tell you to check your oil at every other gas fill, and while this is a good practice and you should follow just for the heck of it....you really wouldnt need to on a brand new RX-8. i dont with my RX-7 and my oil level is always perfect, probably losses a 1/4 of a quart every month or two, which really isnt bad at all. i say go for it if you have the money...but if youre gonna put a ton of miles on the car, i would choose a different, one, but if youre only going to be driving around your city with the occasional long distance trip, id say go for it!!! although i would prefer a manual myself....
Q: Have others had serious difficulty with the Mazda RX8 ?
Mazda usually makes a good car, but the 2004 RX8 must be a lemon! Mine has been in the shop 15 times and Mazda has finally agreed to buy it back!
A: Im a Japanese and live there.
Yes, RX8 was so inmatured at the first. it had a lot of problem with the quality in the past.
When did you buy RX8? I think it has few problem at this moment, it was modified a lot. The engine computing problem and suspension arm problem were outstanding. Especially susupension arm was serious one.
Mazda is really good car for its handling but generally Mazda quality is not good as a Japanese maker with its initial problem of quality.
If you want Mazda, you should wait until second version of
semi-model change. So if you really like RX8, its good time to buy the latest model now. Miata is too early now.
Q: Where is the best place to advertise Mazda RX8 reg08?
My bnother and his girlfriend have just brought a spanking new Mazda RX8. They have found out she is pregant (great of course) which means they will have to sell the car :o(
They were thinking of Ebay, but as their in thir early 20s i think people may think their dodgy, not at all but i would think mmm how did they afford that - inheritance
East Sussex
its £2,000 unsurance not too bad for a 2litre engine
A: Auto trader, or why not ask how much to trade it in for another car? What's with the the £2000 insurance? I pay £165 fully comp with no voluntary excess for my 231ps. The rx8 has 4 seats so can be used as a family car, I transport my teenage kids around in mine.
Q: What should I add when customizing an Mazda Rx8?
Im getting a 2008 Mazda Rx8 Grand Touring and i don't know much about cars so what should i add to it? Like best engine/motor to add and all that stuff and same for the interior, as for the paint job, i can do that on my own, i already got an idea for it
A: If you whant a fast car I would get a spoiler not big though.
If you whant a fast car I would get a good enginge , V8.
If you wanted it to look pimped I would get chrome wheels.
RX-8 is perfect to custom. It is good you asked.
Q: Can You import a Mazda Rx8 into Australia if so any websites that have it?
Can You import a Mazda Rx8 into Australia if so any websites that have it? or can you list any imorter websites shops from Australia?
A: Mazda will be launching the facelifted RX8 in Australia this coming July.
Q: What are the best tires for a 2004 Mazda RX8?
What brand or type of tire is fitted best for a Mazda RX8?
A: I bought the same as the original fitted Bridgestone Potenza on my RX8 cause they have the extra little bit on the wall to help protect against scuffing the alloys. No other tyre I found had this. While they grip like glue in the dry, I have had a couple of slides on tight corners in the wet especially on roundabouts (maybe just the greasy road surface). I am aware of this and therefore drive accordingly.
Q: Is a mazda rx8 a good car to travel?
will a mazda rx8 be good car to travel in to go to college with?
is it a reliable car for the highway?low maintenance
what type of traveling: traveling such as drive occasionally every 1or 2 months from louisville to california.also a little city driving in California
will this car be good for a college student?
A: well driving wise its a fun car to drive but it gets horrible gas mileage
a rotaty engine is not easy to fix or cheap to maintain, i dont suggest this car for a college student

A: Yes, the automatic tranny models are all Tiptronic-style, with paddles on the steering wheel.
Q: what are common problems with the mazda rx8?
I have been looking at cars, and the rx8 has caught my eye. My friends have a 350z and a s2000 and I do not want to get the same cars as them.
A: Common problems:
1) The owners who treat the rotary engine like a piston engine. This isn't an engine you can simply ignore. There are no special tricks to maintaining one, but the engine MUST be looked after. Run the engine to redline at least once every couple days to keep carbon build-up at bay, and change the oil and coolant at the times specified. No slacking
2) Mazda Techs who say the car is bad because they haven't got a @#%&* clue how to work on them...'nuff said about these idiots... Find a GOOD Mazda dealer (preferably one involved with Mazda Motorsports if you can) while on warranty. After that find a good, knowledgable rotary mechanic. Check with your local Sports Car clubs.
3) When you start the car do not stop the engine cold. This can cause flooding. Always let it run for a couple minutes once started. I've never flooded mine even when it has stalled cold, but it's good advice nonetheless.
4) Moisture in the tail lights have been a known issue. There is a TSB out about this so warranty repair is available is this is an issue.
5) "Clicking" from the front end when you fully crank the wheel. TSB is out on this, too.
6) Brake squeal. Mainly caused by being too gentle on the brakes causing glazing. Braking hard once-a-day should keep this at bay. TSB issued anyway.
7) Sun visors breaking caused by excess heat in car during hot summer temperatures. It softens the plastic.
8) Premature Catalytic Converter death. Under EPA warranty up to 100K miles in the US, I believe.

Q: What Can I Do To Make A Mazda RX8 Sound Beastly?
An automatic RX8 what should i do to make the exhaust piping sound more performance wise?
A: lol, dont do any stupid v8 swaps into it, you wouldnt wanna ruin the car would you? I'd say go with the racing beat option. They make very nice exhaust systems, very high quality and they sound great. Not to loud, not to ricey, and they look great. I would also go with headers. That will really make your 8 scream, however the headers probably arent smog legal, (if youre in CA) so i wouldnt do headers unless youre planning on installing them yourself. An intake would also be nice, however it isnt going to affect the sound of your car that much, it will be barely noticeable. The RX-8 is never going to sound like a V8, if thats what youre aiming for....but if you want to make it sound and perform better their are plenty of good options, Borla, magnaflow, racing beat etc...if you want a deeper tone, I'd go with a borla exhaust, but for me, I'd probably get Racing Beat. Check youtube, streetfire etc for RX-8 exhaust videos, i kno they have them on there; then make the decision yourself.
