Q: 2002 Mercedes C230 Kompressor or 2004 Mazda Rx8?
Hi. Iam planning to buy a car not more than $16000 and i liked both 2002 Mercedes C230 Kompressor and 2004 Mazda Rx8. I read all the reviews and both the cars seems to have lots of issues and now i have a problem in choosing which one to buy? Help please
Btw i dont like Nissan 350z. Infinity G35 seems to be costly and i cant find lexus or bmw in my price range!....
I have also looked at Mustang and i think i would go with that!.. Ne other Suggestions for a sports car?
A: Mercedes are extremley expensive to maintain. The RX-8 has problems if you dont know how to properly start and shut it off. When starting it you must rev it for 10 seconds at 3000 rpms to burn off any gas in the plugs if you want to shut off right after you start it. Other than that the RX-8 is very hard to break, very low maintance too!
Q: why does my 2004 mazda rx8 run so rough?
When stopped and the engine is idling, it sometimes stalls.
A: Idk, have you been taking care of it?
Try getting a tune-up, or get it checked out, or something...
that shouldn't happen, unless you are trying to do burn-outs...
Q: What is the average price of a 2004 mazda rx8 gt?
A: It depends on the miles it has.
The prices are anywhere from $13,000-16,000.
Q: does a 2004 mazda rx8 come with a way (switch or somthing) that will let the engine turn over but not start?
My like new RX8 will not start. I have taken it to a shop and its been there for amonth after spending over a thousand dollars!I think im bieng ripped off!
A: any anti theft system would not allow the engine to crank. i dont know if there is any improvement on the new rotary engines, but the older ones flood very easily. to get it started, you need a strong battery, or booster so the engine cranks as fast as possible. pinch off the fuel supply hose, or disable the fuel pump, hold the gas pedal all the way to the floor, and crank and crank. this should clear the flood and start, then die because the fuel is disabled. re-enable the fuel syst, then again crank with gas to floor until it starts. i would strongly sespect flooding is the prob. if it first happened on a extra cold day. also, it is hard to read the spark plugs on this engine-even a good looking plug can be fouled, and prevent it from starting. hope this helps.
p.s.if the car is not at the dealer or a rotary specialist, get it out of there! pay with a credit card(not debit) in case it turns out they have replaced good parts. rotarys are a different breed, and even a good tech will get spanked by it unless he has a lot of experience with them. he's probably in so deep that his pride wont let him admit he's stumped. rotarys are actually simple, but there are alot of tricks and tweeks that only someone with experience knows about. a good rotary tech should be bald from pulling out thier hair while learning the tricks of the trade.
if the car happens to be in the denver area, i can recommend a good shop. good luck
Q: how do you program a remote key for a 2003-2004 Mazda RX8?
A: You take it to a locksmith or the dealership. This requires special equipment, to be done right.
Q: After I release my e-brake indicator still says its on. 2004 Mazda RX8 Manual?
Light stays on after brake is release on my Mazda RX8
A: It could be as simple as the brake light switch on the handbrake circuit isn't opening when you release the handbrake. A simple adjustment might fix this.
It may also be a fault in the brake system itself that is causing the brake light to stay on, so get the brakes checked out.
Q: Variety of issues with 2004 Mazda RX8 I am looking to buy?
My father went to test drive a vehicle for me (I am in Iraq and had the following problems) Answer as many as you can.
Car has been sitting for 4 months. It was warmed up before my dad showed up and when he showed up it took about twenty mintures for it to start....any reason why?
Then he drove it for about 15 minutes, he shut it off, then it started EXTREMELY hard after that. Any reason why?
While he was driving it if it was between 5-6000 RPM and he stomped on it (any gear it is a manual) it would bog, slow down a bit then the power would kick in....any reason why?
As far as the current owner knows there has been no recall work done on it, I am about to run a CarFax, any questions you can answer would be great.
Thanks,
Adam
He was asking $15,500, on the phone I talked him down to $15,000 because my fiance won't let me buy one for more than that......and it is a Grand Touring edition. I checked the CarFax and no recalls have been called on it, nor have any been acted upon.......
47,500 miles.....
A: It sounds like the motor is done. Buy it and take it to the dealer and tell them it has lost power and maybe they will replace it under warranty. Warranty is good for 4 years or 50k. There is a new recall that checks compression and computer updates and such. In my opinion the rotary engine is junk. The car is sexy as hell, but the motor. I have driven many RX8's and when they are running right they are fun. But there isn't a single one I would own. Fuel mileage is also a joke, 13-18mpg is what we hear most of the time. I would do some more searching though.
Q: will this 75% door conversion kit work with a mazda rx8 2004?
http://www.advancedjdmparts.com/product.php?productid=16801
ok...75 degree not 75%
A: the compresser g-handle of zx7.4, for your rx-8 i don't see why nottt
Q: mazda rx8 2004 good car or bar car? ?
I saw bad comments about this car here on yahoo they say about the engine is rotary something like that i need to know if i get that car is gonna be a car problem or i be ok with it. i need it as an everyday car
thank you
A: The rotary engine is SICK, and I'm glad they decided to finally re-introduce it! Some folks badmouth it because they don't know how to read. They would run out of oil because they did not know how to properly read their dipstick. The older rotary engines used oil in normal operation, and the dipstick reads TWO quarts between the hash marks, not the one that most engines represented. Therefore, when the oil level was down that hash mark, alot of non-reading, ignorant people would add one quart of oil, drop the hood and call it good. Then the engine would get hot, carbon would form, and the sealing ring on the rotors would hang on a bit of carbon, and then the same ignorant people would try to force it, and the ring, or "apex seal" would break, making a rebuild necessary. They called that "carbon lock". I had the pleasure of riding in a few of the older RX's as well as a newer twin turbo BEAST, and you wanna talk about fun? WAHOO! This is a high performing vehicle, and needs to be treated as such. If you do, it should last you awhile, and be a lot of fun.
Q: Cheap Wheels for a Mazda RX8?
I recently bought a 2004 Mazda RX8 with 6 speed manual. The manual transmission RX8's come stock with 18" wheels. For the winter from my last car I have a set of 16" Blizzak tires, I am looking to find somewhere that will sell cheap wheels that will fit the 2004 RX8. They don't have to look fancy, just something that will fit. Also, if anyone knows where to find stock 16" wheels from the Mazda RX8 Automatic Transmission for a decent price that would be great too.
A: Sorry to tell you, but the manual RX8 comes with bigger brakes. Your 16" tires are no good to you because 16" wheels will not fit over the brakes. You need to bump up to 17".
Q: Mazda RX8 customized?
I am looking at getting a 2004 Mazda RX8. The first thing I want to do is put a full exhaust system starting from the headers back. I want to do it myself but I was wondering if the Cadalytic Converter was programmed into the ECU therefor making it impossible for me to do it. if anyone could help me that would be great.
A: The ECU is programmed for the presence of the cat. The fuel map actually is programmed very rich to protect the cat from the higher exhaust temperatures of a rotary.
If you were to remove it (for track purposes only, I assume
Q: mazda RX8 service manual??
hi im looking for a 2004 mazda RX8 (australian car)service manual in pdf format, anyone know where i could download one? i found a canadian manual but the car is very different from the australian model.
A: In the USA, if you mean the car's owner's manual, it may be downloadable from
http://www.edmunds.com/ownership/parts/articles/120189/article.html
Does http://www.haynes.com have a manual?
Q: Mazda RX8 vs. Honda S2000?
I am contemplating getting a 2004 Mazda RX8 or a 2004 Honda S2000. Which one should I go with. Looking for performance. Thanks
A: I myself just bought a 2004 RX8. I have to say, I love the hell out of it, but there are a few things you need to know:
If its an automatic w/ electro shift: 212 Horse Power
manual 6-speed shift: 232 Horse Power
0-60: In my personal attempts (not some fancy racing dynamics) 6.4 seconds. I stress personal attempts, because I seriously doubt you care that they hooked the RX8 to a machine, you want real results!
------------------
Now! I have to say I am already dropping money into the RX8. There are endless amounts of aftermarket parts you can put on this thing that will bring it up to speed with the best of them! Slap on a Greddy Turbo Kit, and your boosting anywhere between 40-60 Horse Power Gain. Slap a bigger exaust with a wet kit, and you will take anything that crosses your path.
The question is, how many kiddies with their honda civics can afford the power of the rotary engine with turbo/exaust/NOS.....Not many, which in my book makes an RX8 one sweet ass ride.
Q: mazda rx8????
thinking about buying a 2004 mazda rx8 electric blue auto, black leather sunroof etc. 25,000k dealership said they have had a couple of problems with it. but i can buy warranty with it should i nice car
A: Yes, Mazda does make an auto trans RX8.
In the '04 and '05 models you only get the 4 port Renesis engine instead of 6 port available to the 6MT drivers. The 4 port only makes around 192 HP instead of 238 in the 6 port.
If the price is good enough, and the warranty available goes long enough then it may be a good deal. Make sure the "problems" you speak of are corrected, and that all recalls are completed.
Q: Mazda rx8 cold air intake, exhaust, headers, turbo....?
I am planning on getting all of that stuff for my 2004 Mazda RX8, starting with an AEM cold air intake. I was going to get one thing at a time since everything is SO expensive. But I was told that there really is no point since they all work together and don't do much individually.
If I can get this stuff one at a time in what order should I buy stuff? (there will be a few months between buying each new item)
Anyone have an RX8 and have any advice or comments about their own after market parts?
A: Whoa, hold on there. First off, stop. Your RX8 is a rotary, which requires a certain grade of parts to handle its output. Cheaper exhaust systems will MELT under the immense heat of a rotary's exhaust. That means you can't use a glass pack or fiberglass-packed muffler. I've seen glasspacks melt through in half an hour on a RX7 and it STUNK!!! My buddy's neighbor thought it was chemical warfare, LOL.
Second, are you a member of a rotary site? I'd highly reccomend checking out http://www.rx8club.com and it's sister site http://www.rx7club.com to become more familiar with your car and how it works. Fellow owners are often the best people to ask, but you already knew that!
Last, never take your car anywhere other than a Rotary shop. The RX7 Store (www.rx7store.net) is a good starting place for aftermarket parts for the RX7 and RX8.
If you have any questions or doubts about a brand of part, just remember that you can ALWAYS get results with parts from RE-Amemiya (www.re-amemiya.co.jp). they've been tinkering around with rotary engines as long as Mazda has and are considered the holy grail of parts suppliers. They're expensive though, but the quality is unsurpassed, period.
