A: Well, before you decide, you should know the mechanical differences between the two.
The RX-8 has a Rotary (Wankel) Engine that with the manual transmission red-lines at 9,000rpm's. The power delivery is different than the MS 3 so you will want to drive them both.
As far as maintenance, the RX-8 will get worse fuel economy and also will burn oil

I drive a 2007 Mazda RX8, but I fill up regular gas, not premium. Is this not good? I heard mixed answers, some people say its very bad and it will ruin the engine, others say it does not matter. I don't want to sound like a cheap guy driving an RX8, but with gas prices these days, and the amount of fuel this car drinks, I don't know if it is worth putting in premium. Thoughts?
I live in Canada, so it is not gallons, it is per litre. Right now its at $1.35 per litre, premium is $1.50
A: Premium fuel is REQUIRED on a RX-8. Do not burn regular fuel. For 20 cents per gallon more vs regular you are looking at a couple of bucks more at the pump. If you have an issue with the car they may not cover it under warranty because you used regular fuel.

I'm buying a new car here soon, and I've narrowed my choices down to two...the 2007 Mazda RX8 or the 2007 Volkswagon Jetta GLI Fahrenheit, both are comparable in price, etc
Which one would you choose?

A: Mazda RX-8 is a nice car, has a very good power. With a manual transmition which will give you 230 bhp, u can do 0-60 about 6 seconds. The Auto transmition has only 210 hp and should be slower a bit! The rear entry and exits are made easier by the rear doors.
VW GLI has 200 bhp and can do 0-60 about 6.9 ( as VW says, 6.5 by some folks) with Automatic transmition and about 7.2 with manual transmition! Its a sedan with lots of room ( comparing with a coupe car), and has a sporty feeling when you drive it.
Volkswagon Jetta GLI Fahrenheit is a limited production, so if you think you really can take an Exellent care of it, and keep the car ( inside, outside, engine) like the first day you bought it, then go for it. Its a good investment and you will not loss as much as you will on the other cars! BUT, if you just want to use it regularly evreyday and just have it as a regular car, dont waste your money and get a regular VW Jetta GLI and with a bit of money you can get all the Fahrenheit's optios. ( Not the color, of course)
My suggestion is that if you are looking for a car for every day regular city and highway use, get a VW Jetta GLI( because it will give you a better gasmillage, and have a very good amount of torque which makes it more powerful at lower rpms which is very handy for a daily life. But If you are looking for a very fun coupe car to race it, or drive with very high rpms, and the insurance and the gas is not a problem, get the Mazda.

I need honest opinions. I love cars, but not very knowledgable about this one. I could Google it, but I want people who actually own this car, drove this car, have experience with this car to answer. How would you rate this cars performance 1 to 10, 10 being the highest. Handling? gas milage? now that I think of it, how bout you just let me know what ya think of it ;) . I think it's a sexy car and want to buy it I want to know though if it's worth it. I'm thinking of a 2006 or 2007, regular edition or the one I really like which is the Shinka special edition.

I have a 2007 mazda rx8, i love my car. she has a 2002 suv. she loves her car. shouldn't her car be the kid-mobile and pet carrier? My car just isn't made for kids and pets, its too nice. How can i convince her her car should be the "family van" so I can keep my car nice?

A: you seem to like acura(which is made by honda). just to let you know, jaguar and mazda is now made by ford so i'd eliminate those from the list because ford is very unreliable. the c-class and the 3 series are way too small for a luxury car so i'd get rid of those too. so your left wit the acuras. TL is a bit bigger and more fun to drive. so that is what i recommend.
if u are looking for any other cars, i highly recommend the infiniti G35 (probably a '04 or '05) i dont have one but my uncle has one and its fun just to ride in it

I mean the car is so good lookin if only they wood facelift it one more time for the year 2007 that wood be the best. Not only that the car is now over 10 yrs old now and still a supra along side a mazda rx8 and a nissan 350z the toyota supra still looks up to date with them. Q: What Car Should I Get?
So I'm turning 18 in May and I was wondering what car I should get? Right now I own a 2000 Honda Accord. Great car by the way! The choices are:
1. 2005-2007 Ford Mustang
2. Nissan 350Z
3. Mazda RX8
4. Mitsubishi Eclipse
Price is not really a big factor. Around 13K is ok. Which one is better overall? Speed, Interior, Exterior, Relability, Control?
A: The Eclipse is the worst of the four. Front-wheel-drive, lame engines, and not much fun at all (it is a Mitsubishi Galant, after all) and just as impractical.
The other three are pretty good sports cars in their own ways. The Mustang's appeal is the same as always: it has an awesome 300-horsepower V8 and muscle car acceleration (0-60 in 5 sec!). The RX-8 is the slowest, but also the lighest and most agile-handling. The 350Z is kind of the middle ground between the two -- almost as fast as the Stang, almost as good a handler as the Mazda.
You mentioned interiors. The Mustang's feels the cheapest; the other two look nice. As for reliability, the Nissan's the only one that's above-average. Since you're coming from a Honda Accord, I'd also bet the 350Z would feel the most normal to you.

Q: About this other car...?
Well, it's pretty much been decided that I am getting a new 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS (manual shift). It is a considerable upgrade from my 21 year-old Volvo 760. I just want to hear some info about this car. My original plan was the Spdyer, which is basically a convertible version of the same car, or the Mazda Rx8. My friend told me about the rotary engine of the rx8 and how it might be vulnerable to break-downs, so I took the Mazda off my list. On the other hand, the Spyder is truely what I wanted, but my mom goes off on how a convertible isn't safe and such. I'm just here to make sure I won't regret my second choice so anyone who can give me some feedback is greatly appreaciated. =]

The Eclipse is a front wheel drive car....and no self-respecting sports car is FWD!!
The RX-8 is a true performance car and it's RWD...the way God intended it to be!....
Now the rotary engine has been around since NSU first put one in a sedan in 1968.....and yes...early versions did have apex seal problems....but that was long ago and far away....
The Rotary engine is now as reliable if not moreso, than any petrol banger.....and it runs as smooth as a turbine..
Drive an RX....you won't look at an Eclipse the same way ever again!

A: A sports car for an eighteen year old is generally a bad idea. I know he wants a "cool" car to impress the girls, but it's still a bad idea. The gun comment was in very bad taste, but sports cars and young drivers often lead to bad results.
There are a number of automobiles with good safety ratings that make suitable first cars for young men. I know this isn't what he wants to hear, but it is the truth.
I would also suggest that you and your son speak with your insurance agent before you decide on which car to purchase. If you haven't talked to your insurance agent yet, please do so before your son gets his heart set on a vehicle that you cannot afford to insure.
